Rimac Nevera R: Reimagining Hypercar Dynamics for Ultimate Cornering Prowess
The Rimac Nevera R introduces a significantly re-engineered hypercar, built upon the foundation of the record-breaking Nevera, with an intensified focus on agile handling and track-oriented performance. This evolution is driven by customer demand for an even more dynamic driving experience, leveraging the advanced technologies inherent in the Nevera platform.
Mate Rimac, Founder and President of the Rimac Group, CEO Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Technology, commented on the development: “When we developed the Nevera, an important part of the brief was that it should be a Grand Tourer. We made sure it was spacious, comfortable and finely balanced between thrilling and accessible. Ultimately what we achieved struck that balance perfectly; a high-performance record-breaking car that could set new benchmarks at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and be driven comfortably thousands of miles across continents. It was a watershed moment in automotive performance; the world’s first production all-electric hypercar, single-handedly leading a new generation. But we’re relentlessly tweaking to customers’ desires, and many were looking for a car that really emphasized the Nevera’s cornering ability, using all the advanced technology on-board. We responded with the Nevera R: all the DNA of the record-breaking Nevera, but lighter, faster and more focused.”
Rimac designers and engineers meticulously scrutinized the Nevera’s characteristics, undertaking a comprehensive re-engineering of key elements to propel it further into the hyper sports car domain. The Nevera R distinguishes itself with more focused driving dynamics, an enhanced performance-oriented battery system, increased power output of 2,107 hp, and a more advanced braking system. Complementing these mechanical enhancements is a distinct visual identity, driven by performance and refined by sophisticated design.
Visually, the Nevera R presents a sleeker, lower profile, characterized by clean surfaces and an emphasis on perfect proportions. Its stance is forward-thrusting, accentuated by 21-inch rear wheels and 20-inch front wheels. The front fascia is designed to be both striking and technically sophisticated, featuring horizontal lines that optimize aerodynamic efficiency, enhance its visual width, and communicate its dynamic intent. This design is the result of close collaboration between designers and engineers, seamlessly integrating fluid surfacing with precise graphic elements into the front clam. The side profile showcases a harmonious interplay of body color and carbon fiber, contributing to a timeless and dynamic silhouette. The wheels feature new designs with extended spokes, amplifying their perceived size and distinct color splits. The integration of a large fixed rear wing and an aggressive aero package, including a new, larger diffuser, results in a 15% increase in downforce and a 10% improvement in aerodynamic efficiency. Equipped with new Michelin Cup 2 tires, the Nevera R achieves a 10% reduction in total understeer, a 5% increase in lateral grip, and a 3.8-second reduction in lap times around the Nardo Handling Track. This combination of negative camber, superior tire grip, and augmented downforce empowers the Nevera R to redefine the limits of physics. Every component has been rethought through a performance-driven design philosophy, prioritizing agility and handling.
The Nevera R delivers significantly enhanced performance with an even greater emphasis on driver feedback. It offers sharper and more precise cornering capabilities, facilitated by the next-generation All-Wheel Torque Vectoring (R-AWTV) system, which has been recalibrated to fully exploit the potential of the high-performance tires. Increased downforce contributes to superior stability and lateral performance, establishing a new benchmark for driving exhilaration on challenging B-roads and for occasional track use. The traction control system has been revised to expand the operational envelope of the R-AWTV, ensuring predictable behavior even in adverse wet conditions. Drift mode has been adapted to accommodate the new tires, and the steering system has been refined for a more immediate response and crisper feedback to the driver.
At its core, the Nevera R is powered by the next-generation 108kWh Rimac battery pack, which utilizes cutting-edge technology to deliver increased power and efficiency within a lighter, more compact package. With a formidable 2,107 hp at its disposal, it surpasses even the record-breaking Nevera in straight-line acceleration. The new EVO2 brakes, constructed from carbon-ceramic with a silicone matrix layer, provide improved stopping performance, enhanced cooling, and superior durability under extreme usage conditions.

Presented in Nebula Green, the Nevera R represents a visual progression of the Rimac narrative, translating the Time Attack’s Lightning Green accents into a sophisticated new color palette for both the exterior and interior. The driver-centric, highly customizable interior of the Nevera has been further enhanced with additional color and trim options. Painted carbon fiber elements, such as the main dashboard structure and center console trims, can be specified to match the exterior hue or be personalized according to individual customer preferences.
Production of the Nevera R will be strictly limited to 40 units globally.
