The Rimac Nevera R redefines hypercar performance with an intensified focus on cornering dynamics and an even more exhilarating straight-line acceleration. Building upon the record-shattering foundation of the original Nevera, the R variant features next-generation Rimac All-Wheel Torque Vectoring, advanced braking systems, and a performance-optimized battery, all contributing to its 2,107 hp output. This potent combination enables the Nevera R to achieve 300 km/h (186 mph) in a mere 8.66 seconds, surpassing its predecessor’s already remarkable straight-line capabilities.
Mate Rimac, Founder and President of the Rimac Group, CEO Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Technology, explained the genesis of the Nevera R: “When we developed the Nevera, an important part of the brief was that it should be a Grand Tourer. We made sure it was spacious, comfortable and finely balanced between thrilling and accessible. Ultimately what we achieved struck that balance perfectly; a high-performance record-breaking car that could set new benchmarks at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and be driven comfortably thousands of miles across continents. It was a watershed moment in automotive performance; the world’s first production all-electric hypercar, single-handedly leading a new generation. But we’re relentlessly tweaking to customers’ desires, and many were looking for a car that really emphasized the Nevera’s cornering ability, using all the advanced technology on-board. We responded with the Nevera R: all the DNA of the record-breaking Nevera, but lighter, faster and more focused.”
Rimac designers and engineers meticulously analyzed the Nevera’s characteristics, re-engineering key elements to elevate its hyper sports car credentials. The Nevera R boasts more focused driving dynamics, a performance-oriented battery, increased power, and advanced braking systems. Its visual identity is equally performance-driven, refined by meticulous design.
Characterized by clean surfaces and precisely engineered proportions, the Nevera R presents a lower, sleeker profile with a forward-thrusting stance, accentuated by 21-inch rear and 20-inch front wheels. The front fascia is both striking and technical, with horizontal lines enhancing aerodynamic efficiency, stance, and width. This design is the result of close collaboration between designers and engineers, seamlessly integrating sensuous surfacing and precise graphics. The side profile exhibits a harmonious balance of body color and carbon fiber, contributing to its timeless, dynamic silhouette. The wheels feature new designs with extended spokes and distinct color splits. A substantial fixed rear wing, coupled with an aggressive aerodynamic package including a new large diffuser, increases downforce by 15% and aerodynamic efficiency by 10%. Equipped with new Michelin Cup 2 tires, the Nevera R experiences a 10% reduction in total understeer, a 5% increase in lateral grip, and a 3.8-second improvement in lap times around the Nardo Handling Track. This combination of negative camber, enhanced tire grip, and increased downforce empowers the Nevera R to redefine the limits of physics. Every component has been rethought through a performance-driven design philosophy, prioritizing agility and handling.
The Nevera R delivers enhanced performance with an even greater emphasis on driver feedback. It offers sharper, more precise cornering capabilities, facilitated by the re-tuned next-generation Rimac All-Wheel Torque Vectoring (R-AWTV) system, which maximizes the potential of its high-performance tires. Increased downforce contributes to superior stability and lateral performance, establishing a new benchmark for driving exhilaration on challenging B-roads and occasional track excursions. The traction control system has been revised to broaden the R-AWTV’s capabilities, ensuring predictability even in wet conditions. Drift mode has been adapted for the new tires, and the steering system has been refined for sharper response and crisper driver feedback.
Constructed around the next-generation 108kWh Rimac battery pack, the Nevera R harnesses cutting-edge technology to deliver increased power and efficiency within a new, lighter package. With a formidable 2,107 hp, it surpasses the already record-setting Nevera in acceleration. New EVO2 brakes, featuring carbon ceramic with a silicone matrix layer, provide improved stopping performance, enhanced cooling, and superior durability under demanding use.
