While typically an observer in such high-performance scenarios, this handover exemplifies the trust and respect inherent in the Pagani ownership experience, offering invaluable insight into the car’s dynamic characteristics before taking the helm.
The Futa Pass, a revered route near Pagani’s HQ and a historic stage of the Mille Miglia, provides the ideal backdrop for an initial immersion in the Utopia’s performance, discreetly away from prying eyes. Even after an hour immersed in its presence, the Utopia commands an almost hypnotic fascination. Stripped of ostentatious wings and aggressive aerodynamic appendages, it deliberately eschews the current obsession with overt downforce in favour of an artistic pursuit. This approach celebrates purity of form while incorporating lavish embellishments and striking flourishes, a unique fusion that defines Pagani’s distinctive aesthetic.

Despite its overtly analogue aesthetic, the Utopia incorporates advanced, fully integrated electronic systems. A choice of driving modes – Comfort, Sport, Race, and Wet – allows for fine-tuning of the car’s demeanor, while a Supersoft mode offers immediate access to the most pliant suspension setting.
The semi-active TracTive dampers provide an exemplary balance of bump absorption and body control, rendering frequent use of the Supersoft mode unnecessary. The same commendation applies to the Utopia’s formidable Brembo CCM-R brakes, featuring 410mm front and 390mm rear discs, with immense six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers applying progressive clamping force. They are easily modulated at low speeds, delivering relentless bite at higher velocities, and feature a consistently firm pedal, instilling unwavering confidence.

Driving the Pagani Utopia Roadster
While open-top variants of the Zonda and Huayra were produced, the Utopia marks the first instance where the coupe and Roadster design processes were undertaken concurrently.
This parallel development has resulted in a Roadster with even fewer compromises. Its dry weight remains identical to the coupe at 1280kg, with Pagani’s mastery of carbonfibre ensuring the bespoke tub retains exceptional rigidity without the need for additional reinforcement. Like the coupe, the Utopia Roadster benefits from worldwide homologation for safety and emissions.
Build numbers and price have seen an increase compared to the coupe, with Pagani requesting £3.1 million for each of the 130 Roadsters. Production is projected to be between 50 and 60 units annually.
